Aris Petridis was born in 1979 in Athens, Greece. For over 15 years, he pursued a distinguished athletic career as a member of the Greek national track and field team, specializing in the 100m sprint. Among his accolades are multiple gold medals in Panhellenic and Balkan championships, and top placements in international competitions such as the Mediterranean and World Championships.
After earning his degree in Physical Education and Sports from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Aris turned his focus toward a lifelong passion—sculpture.
Working primarily with concrete, bronze and stainless steel, Aris carves powerful, emotive forms that explore the interplay between tension and release, stillness and motion. His sculptures are often shaped by the emotional state he inhabits during creation. Waves, lines, and textures emerge from the surface like a physical language—each one expressing vulnerability, strength, or inner turmoil. Through raw material and intuitive gestures, he invites the viewer to feel rather than simply observe.
In recent years, Aris has gained recognition in both national and international art scenes. His work has been featured in exhibitions such as:
- Athens Art Festival (2021)
- Memorial (2022)
- Colors and Lights, Norway
- Art Awards (2023)
His sculpture “Pieta” earned 1st Prize in Sculpture at the Art Awards 2023, held at the War Museum of Athens—a defining moment in his artistic journey.
In 2024, Aris was invited to collaborate with the House of CHANEL, where he created a sculptural Christmas tree, interpreting the season through his personal artistic lens. The piece was auctioned at a prestigious charity gala in Geneva, in partnership with a leading high jewellery brand, further highlighting his ability to merge fine art with global luxury and philanthropy.
Aris is also a dedicated collaborator with Creaid, donating artworks to support charitable causes and affirming his belief in art as a bridge between personal expression and social purpose.
From the discipline of sport to the sensitivity of sculpture, Aris Petridis channels a deep emotional spectrum into his work—transforming concrete into living, breathing forms of contemporary art.
